A automobile was left on a railway line, which was then momentarily shut down. In around 2:00 a.m. (GMT) on Sunday, Devon & Cornwall’s roads policing squad tweeted that a car had crashed down an embankment at Carbis Bay.

Sunday’s St. Ives branch line trains were cancelled the whole day, according to Great Western Railway (GWR). Tickets would be usable on regional bus routes, it was added.

Police reported that their search for the driver was still going on.

A spokesperson for GWR said on its website: “Overnight a car was driven on to the track and abandoned.

“Network Rail are making arrangements to have the car moved, but the car is in a place that means the recovery will be difficult.”

They said they “hoped” the services would be able to run as normal on Monday.
