Turkey death toll rises to more than 3,500, says Tayyip Erdogan
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, announced in a speech from the earthquake coordination center in the nation’s capital city of Ankara that the dead toll from Monday’s earthquake in Turkey had reached at least 3,549.
He stated that there are at least 22,168 injuries nationwide.
Following the devastating earthquake that shook Turkey and Syria, more than 100 aftershocks were recorded.
The devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake on Monday was followed by more than 100 aftershocks, including one of magnitude 7.5, according to the US Geological Survey.
