Ukraine soldier in Bakhmut says “no one is going to retreat yet”
There are no plans for a retreat and that the country’s forces are still in the eastern city of Bakhmut, according to a soldier from Ukraine’s 93rd Brigade.
“We are standing in Bakhmut. No one is going to retreat yet,” the soldier said in a video posted by the Ukrainian military on Wednesday. “We are standing. Bakhmut is Ukraine.”
The soldier added that things in Bakhmut were a little bit quieter than they had been in previous days.
“We have muffled the enemy down a little bit. It’s a little calmer, but there are still gunfights on the outskirts,” he said. “There are isolated explosions, mines are flying.”
According to a spokeswoman, the Ukrainian military has not decided to leave the city. According to Ukrainian forces, they are maintaining their position and have stopped some Russian assaults.
