The leaders of Russia and Ukraine both made comments on Wednesday in honor of International Women’s Day despite the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, and Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, each addressed the conflict’s female participants directly.

Putin stated that he wished to recognize the Russian women who had decided to carry out “the highest mission – defending the Motherland.”

It is “essential to express gratitude today,” according to Zelenskyy, to the women who defend Ukraine and who have sacrificed their lives for it.

Zelenskyy thanked the women in his life, including his mother and wife, as well as his coworkers. In addition, he emphasized how crucial workplace gender equality is.

“It is very important that we are equals as colleagues,” Zelenskyy said.
