Police reported a man injured four people in a stabbing rampage that was stopped by onlookers who dragged him to the ground in a New Zealand metropolitan area on Thursday.

As per Police District Commander Naila Hassan, the incident in Auckland was random, and the suspect is currently in custody. She said that as the victims were of varied genders, nationalities, and ages, there was no evidence that the attack was motivated by prejudice.

She stated, “Members of the public acted with extreme bravery.”

She said that the man was carrying a big knife and was hurt when he was arrested. As a result, he was taken to the hospital.
