New Delhi: In Bihar, India, a young Muslim doctor faced an incident of forced religious violation when the state’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, removed her veil while presenting her appointment letter. The act has sparked widespread criticism.
Indian analyst Ashok Swain commented on the incident, saying it is a clear example of the Modi government officially endorsing misogyny and Islamophobia.

Video footage shows Bihar’s Chief Minister distributing appointment letters to AYUSH practitioners when he forcibly removed the veil of a Muslim girl, Ayesha, who was on stage. During the incident, the girl was also made to smile, highlighting the unequal and coercive treatment faced by minorities in India.
This unfortunate event is a violation of minority and women’s rights in India and contributes to social division and fear. Such actions reflect the growing Islamophobia and discrimination against minorities in the country, which has triggered widespread criticism on social media.
