A man allegedly stabbed a woman and a 7-year-old girl with a knife at an elementary school in southwestern Germany before fleeing, as per police on Friday.

The school in Esslingen, near Stuttgart, was closed for a regional vacation, although some students were cared for there.
The girl and the woman, a 61-year-old supervisor, were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to a police statement, officers were looking for a man described as being in his early 30s.

Investigators are also gathering information regarding the events leading up to the incident, which occurred at 8 a.m.
