KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait has begun a sweeping initiative to verify the academic degrees of all employees across both the public and private sectors, warning that anyone found with invalid or non-compliant qualifications will face penalties.

The Cabinet’s certificate verification committee met on Thursday under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereedah Al-Mousherji. She urged the rapid completion of nationwide credential checks to safeguard the integrity of professional qualifications.

The meeting, which included Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jalal along with committee members and specialists involved in the process, focused on accelerating verification efforts.

According to a statement from the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs’ office, Al-Mousherji directed the main committee and its subcommittees—based at the Civil Service Commission, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Public Authority of Manpower—to finish their assignments without delay.

She praised the committee’s continued work, especially its follow-up with entities that have not yet provided complete employee information. Al-Mousherji stressed that full cooperation from government bodies and private companies is crucial to fulfilling the committee’s mission.

The statement added that the committee has already started reviewing academic certificates of state employees in managerial and supervisory positions, with assessments of other employment categories currently in progress.

It also noted that individuals found in violation of credential standards will face appropriate disciplinary measures.

Previously, the Cabinet tasked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs with forming this committee—chaired by the Fatwa and Legislation Department and comprising multiple government agencies—to authenticate the academic degrees of citizens and residents working in both sectors.
