Prince William says he is anonymously volunteering during lockdown

The Duke of Cambridge Prince William has revealed that he has been volunteering during the ongoing lockdown.

He confessed that he has been anonymously counseling people at Shout 85258, which provides support through text messages to people in the problems.

Prince William said that he was trained by the mental health charity. He had been responding to the messages.

Last month he confessed to the fellow volunteers in a video call, “I’m going to share a little secret with you guys, but I’m actually on the platform volunteering.”

The Cambridges and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex invested £3m in the service via their Royal Foundation to help introduce the helpline Shout 85258 last year.

More than 300,000 text conversations have been had on the service. The charity informed that around 65% of people texting are aged under 25. Several people sought mental health support.

The service is available 24/7. Those texting would not know a royal family member is talking to them, like 2,000 Shout volunteers.
