In a sprawling, nearly two-hour State of the Union address delivered Tuesday night, President Donald Trump proclaimed that the United States has entered its “golden era,” highlighting a dramatic turnaround from previous hardships. “Our nation has returned to the path of progress,” he stated, emphasizing that America is now stronger, richer, and more secure than ever before.
President Trump highlighted what he termed a “turnaround for the ages,” asserting that the U.S. is now “bigger, better, richer, and stronger than ever before.” He boasted of $18 trillion in new investment commitments and a record-breaking stock market.
Addressing rising costs, the President insisted that inflation is “plummeting” and that his administration’s policies including new tariffs have led to significant national revenue growth, despite criticism from opposition lawmakers and fact-checkers regarding his figures.
The President expressed deep frustration with a recent Supreme Court ruling that blocked his attempt to impose sweeping tariffs under emergency powers. He signaled he would circumvent the court’s decision, asserting that his trade agenda remains essential and that foreign nations remain willing to comply with his tariff demands despite legal hurdles.
A significant portion of the address was dedicated to foreign policy, where President Trump touted his role as a global mediator. He claimed to have played a key part in de-escalating eight major international conflicts.
Specifically, he reiterated his claim of preventing a nuclear war between Pakistan and India in May 2025, noting that Pakistani leadership had credited his intervention with saving millions of lives.
Regarding the Middle East, President Trump maintained a hardline stance on Iran. He vowed never to allow Tehran to acquire a nuclear weapon and highlighted the potential threat of Iranian missiles. While expressing a preference for diplomatic solutions, he kept military options on the table, citing the Iranian regime’s history of regional aggression.
On the domestic front, President Trump emphasized border security, asserting that no individuals have entered the country illegally over the past nine months. He called on Congress to pass mandatory “voter ID” legislation to combat what he described as “rampant” electoral fraud.
Additionally, Trump announced the official end of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within federal operations.
Concluding the address, Trump reaffirmed his resolve to continue his agenda. While acknowledging this is his second term, he cryptically remarked that a third term could be possible, leaving observers and opponents to speculate on his long-term political intentions.
On the other side Representative Al Green of Texas interrupted the speech in protest and was subsequently escorted out of the chamber by the Sergeant-at-Arms. Muslim members of Congress, including Representatives Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, also expressed dissent during the address.
At one point in his remarks, President Trump referred to the protesters as “crazy,” drawing strong reactions from both supporters and critics in the chamber.
