Sindh government begins action against illegal gas cylinder shops
Despite government assurances of uninterrupted natural gas supply during Sehri and Iftari timings in the holy month of Ramadan 2024, residents in various regions of Pakistan are experiencing loadshedding.
This situation has compelled individuals to purchase LPG cylinders to prevent disruptions while preparing meals for Sehri and Iftar. The cost of an 11.8 kilogramme cylinder, typically used by domestic households, varies from Rs9,000 to Rs13,000 in the open market across different cities in the country.
Customers have the option to purchase these cylinders from a variety of online platforms and have them delivered directly to their homes. Several companies also provide online sales services.
In addition to the 11.8 kg cylinder, 10 kg Fiber LPG Gas Cylinders are accessible in both open markets and online platforms. The starting price is Rs10,500, with maximum prices differing from company to company.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited also offers LPG cylinders in various cities within its jurisdiction.
The company provides a 12kg cylinder against security charges of Rs7,000, and it levies Rs1,000 for the regulator and Rs1,000 for service charges. As of March 2023, the LPG gas prices stand at Rs3,030.

As per Ogra, the notified price for an 11.8 kg cylinder is Rs3,030.25. This implies that the official price for 1kg is Rs256.78. However, it is being sold at Rs300 per KG in the open market.
