Vehicle tax payment deadline extended to January 15
KARACHI: Sindh Government has made biometric verification has been made mandatory for registration and transfers of vehicles.
Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has made biometric verification mandatory for vehicle registration and transfer. Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that biometric verification will be done in registration and transfer of new and old vehicles.
The senior minister said that under the new policy, the change will be implemented in 3 phases, in the first phase from July 1, biometrics will be mandatory for new vehicle registration and in the second phase, biometric verification of vehicle buyers will be done from November 1.
He said that in the third phase, there will be biometric verification of the vehicle seller and the buyer. Sharjeel Memon said government is working for more transparency in the excise department and this is just the beginning.
Biometric authentication is an important milestone in promoting transparency, it will help in preventing illegal transfer of vehicles and fraud, for biometric authentication one can go to National Database & Registration Authority(NADRA) e-facility centers or district excise office.
