
NA session likely to be held today
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act Amendment Ordinance will be presented in the National Assembly today.
According to the details, the government has prepared to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court from seventeen to twenty-five.
The National Assembly session will be held today under the chairmanship of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the seven-point agenda of the session was released.
In the meeting, the Law Minister will present the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance for approval.
By amending the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act, the head of the Constitution Bench will be included in the Judiciary Committee.
Sources said that apart from the Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance, two more bills are likely to be passed.
The bill to increase the number of Supreme Court judges from seventeen to twenty-five will also be presented for approval, the private members’ bill has been adopted by the government, which has been approved by the standing committee.
The bill to amend the Anti-Terrorism Act 1998 can also be passed today. All government members have been directed to ensure attendance in the meeting.
Attention notice on grounding of several PIA planes will be presented by Aliya Kamran of JUI-F.
Pakistan People’s Party’s Sehar Kamran will present an attention notice regarding Pakistan’s 129th position in the international judicial ranking.
