ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has fixed basic tariff of electric vehicle charging stations Rs 23.57 per unit as the federal government’s request has been approved.

NEPRA has issued a decision to reduce the tariff and has fixed a Rs 23.5 unit of charging stations of electric vehicles. The tariff has been reduced from Rs 45.55 to Rs 23.57 per unit.

NEPRA’s decision states that the basic tariffs of electric charging stations of vehicles have been reduced by Rs 21.98 per unit.

Meanwhile a request to remove capped margin of Rs 24.44 on vehicle charging stations also approved.

NEPRA said in its decision that according to the government request, the margin has been set aside the market.

It is to be noted here that the federal government had submitted a request to NEPRA for reduction in tariff of charging stations.

Earlier, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had completed its hearing on tariff revision requests from seven Independent Power Producers (IPPs). If approved, this adjustment could provide consumers with a relief of 50 paisa per unit, potentially resulting in overall savings of Rs. 920 billion.

The hearing addressed requests submitted by seven IPPs operating under the 2002 power policy, including Nishat Chunian Power, Nishat Power, Narowal Energy Limited, Liberty Power Tech Limited, Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited, Sapphire Electric Power Limited, and Saif Power Limited. The proposals aimed at reducing power generation costs.
