KARACHI: The Karachi police have arrested more than 90 suspects involved in aerial firing during Independence Day celebrations, registering over 100 cases against them.

According to police, 68 illegal firearms were seized from the suspects, while 111 FIRs have been lodged. Additional charges of murder and attempted murder are also being filed against those involved in the celebratory gunfire.

Karachi Police Surgeon said that 3 people were killed and 114 were injured in aerial firing on Independence Day.

The police surgeon said that the 8 -year -old girl was among the dead, the highest number of injured were brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital(ASH), Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre(JPMC) 41 and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute Of Trauma(SMBBIT) 30.

The police surgeon further stated that never before had so many people been killed or injured due to aerial firing on Independence Day.

It may be recalled that 100 people were injured and two were killed in aerial firing on Independence Day last year.
