PESHAWAR: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi hoisted the national flag at the Governor House Peshawar on Friday, Aug.14, during a ceremony held to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.

The ceremony began with the national anthem and was also attended by Iranian Consul General Ali Banafsheh Khah. A police guard of honor was also presented during the flag hoisting ceremony.

A special prayer was offered for the country’s development, prosperity, peace and stability. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, along with the Iranian consul general, also cut a cake to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.

While on the other side Pakistan’s armed forces on Friday, Aug.14,  congratulated the nation on its 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to the country’s founders, martyrs and veterans while reaffirming their resolve to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty, uphold the Constitution and safeguard its national interests, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Further more, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the Yadgar-e-Fatah monument in Islamabad, built to honor the country’s martyrs and mark the victory in Marka-e-Haq, a day before Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.
