KARACHI, September 08, 2025: Sindh Home and Law Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar said on Monday that authorities will deal strictly with any dacoits who surrender in Katcha areas, in line with established rules.

He made the remarks while chairing the first meeting of the Katcha Areas Monitoring Committee, which reviewed the ongoing anti-bandit operations, the security situation, and the government’s strategy.

AIG Operations Sindh Zubair Nazir Sheikh briefed the meeting, stressing the urgent need for modern weapons, secure vehicles, and better equipment for the police to ensure success. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening checkpoints and providing professional training for law enforcement.

Lanjar directed officials to submit practical recommendations for resources without delay so the government can approve them quickly. He said the Sindh government is determined to eliminate dacoits, and while peaceful surrender is encouraged, it will only be accepted under clear legal procedures.

The minister noted that the current operation is large-scale, involving police, Rangers, and other security agencies, all working together. He praised the effective results of the past seven months, congratulating security institutions for their efforts.

He also said floods in Katcha and coastal areas have made the situation sensitive, but authorities will handle all surrender matters according to the law.

Lanjar stressed that infrastructure reduces crime and cited how criminal activities declined after authorities built bridges in Dadu, Moro, Larkana, and Khairpur. He urged faster work on bridge projects in Ghotki and Kashmore, saying their completion would help cut crime further.

To protect essential services during operations, Lanjar asked the education and health departments to share details of schools, colleges, hospitals, and dispensaries in Katcha areas. He proposed setting up temporary campuses so that education and healthcare continue without disruption.

He admitted that delays in the past had slowed progress, but stressed that this operation must succeed. We must maintain law and order and protect people’s lives and property, he said, urging all stakeholders to work together with full dedication.

The IGP Sindh, senior officials from the education, health, law, and forests departments, members of the Board of Revenue, Sindh Rangers, and representatives of other security and law enforcement agencies attended the meeting.
