Netflix has finally lifted the veil on one of the most anticipated secrets of Wednesday Season 3, revealing the mysterious character Aunt Ophelia.

The role will be played by acclaimed 45-year-old French actress Eva Green, known for her performances in Dark Shadows and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

Fans had only caught a glimpse of the character from behind in the dramatic Season 2 finale, sparking endless speculation about her true identity some even guessed Lady Gaga’s Rosalind Root, while others imagined a completely new character.

The official announcement confirms that Aunt Ophelia, Morticia Addams’ sister, will take on a major role in Season 3, steering the series into darker and more supernatural territory.

Like her niece Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), Ophelia is a raven with extraordinary powers. However, her abilities spiraled out of control, leading to a mental breakdown.

Her mother, Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley), confined her to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, but Ophelia eventually escaped.

Her mysterious whereabouts captivated fans until Wednesday discovered her diary, which revealed a terrifying vision: a woman with long golden hair wearing a crown of flowers.

Ultimately, it was revealed that Ophelia had been imprisoned in Hester’s basement, dressed in red, and had scrawled a chilling message in blood on the wall: “Wednesday must die.”
