Islamabad: Pakistan Hockey Team Clinches Semi-Final Spot with 5-3 Win Over Malaysia in FIH World Cup Qualifiers
Pakistan’s national hockey team demonstrated grit and precision to secure a semifinal berth in the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup Qualifiers, overpowering Malaysia 5-3 in a thrilling encounter in Ismailia, Egypt, on Monday.
The victory was powered by goals from Rana Waheed Ashraf, Zakariya Hayat, Ahmed Nadeem, Muhammad Sufyan Khan, and Muhammad Ammar, while Malaysia managed to score through Abdul Rauf, Ahkamullah, and Fitri Saari.
The match featured fast-paced exchanges, aggressive attacks, and tactical brilliance, with Pakistan controlling key moments to maintain a decisive lead.
PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, Olympians Islahuddin Siddiqui and Hassan Sardar, and Chief Selector Samiullah Khan lauded the team for their resilience, teamwork, and disciplined performance, emphasizing the squad’s readiness for the challenges ahead.
