China will continue supporting peace talks.

China called for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in the Middle East and said it is ready to play a constructive role in supporting peace talks, following reports that the United States and Iran may be close to an agreement to end the ongoing conflict.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China is urging all parties to work toward an immediate and lasting ceasefire and help restore peace and stability in the Middle East and Gulf region as soon as possible.

She said reaching a solution is in the interest of both the US and Iran, as well as countries across the region and the wider world.

Mao Ning stressed the importance of maintaining the current momentum of de-escalation and continuing efforts toward a political solution through dialogue and consultation that addresses the concerns of all sides.

She added that China will continue supporting peace talks and play a constructive role in efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
