ISLAMAAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has successfully persuaded Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to return to the National Assembly, after which he accompanied the PPP leader to the parliamentary chamber.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also met Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, along with Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, as part of government efforts to address concerns raised by the opposition ally.
Sources said that prior to the meetings, PPP’s media cell had clarified that the party had not decided to boycott the budget session. It stated that while some party members would attend the proceedings, the party chairman was initially expected to stay away.
PPP leader Nadeem Afzal Chan also dismissed reports of a formal boycott, calling the claims inaccurate.
Earlier, The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has decided to boycott the ongoing budget session, party sources said.
According to the decision, senior PPP leader and lawmaker Naveed Qamar will represent the party during the proceedings.
Sources said the remaining PPP members will not attend the session as part of the party’s boycott strategy.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lawmakers staged a protest on the floor of the National Assembly during the budget session, demanding a greater share of water for Sindh.
PPP members, including Shazia Marri, entered the assembly carrying placards bearing the slogan “Give Water to Sindh.”
The protesting lawmakers gathered in front of the Speaker’s dais and raised slogans in support of Sindh’s water rights during the proceedings.
