17 Thar students complete technical training program in China

MITHI: Seventeen students from the Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI) Mithi have returned to Pakistan after successfully completing a Dual Diploma Scholarship Program in China with outstanding academic performance, officials said.

The students were sent to Pingdingshan Polytechnic College in Henan Province under a scholarship initiative sponsored by Thar Foundation, where they pursued specialized technical education.

Upon their arrival at Karachi’s international airport, they were received by representatives of Thar Foundation, the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA), and TANG International.

According to officials, all 17 students completed their examinations successfully, with several securing top positions in their final-year diploma assessments.

Sham Sundar Darzi from Mithi secured first position, Anil Kumar Meghwar stood second, and Bhamro Bheel from Talho Ki Dhani village in Thar Coal Block-II achieved third position.

Speaking on the occasion, Sham Sundar Darzi said his hard work in China had paid off, resulting in strong academic achievement. Bhamro Bheel said his success was a source of pride for his family and community in the Thar Coal Block-II region.

Anil Kumar Meghwar said the program not only provided quality technical education but also offered valuable exposure to Chinese culture and society, which he described as a transformative experience. A relative of one of the students, Rahul Kumar, expressed confidence that the graduates would contribute meaningfully to their respective professional fields.

Thar Foundation General Manager Farhan Ansari described the students’ success as a major milestone and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to promoting education and skills development among youth in Tharparkar. He said all 17 students who were sent to China last year for the mining dual diploma program had completed their studies successfully.

Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) Managing Director Ghulam Murtaza Shaikh called the program a significant achievement and credited the collaboration between Thar Foundation and Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company for its success. He congratulated all stakeholders and emphasized the importance of continuing similar initiatives.

A number of officials and guests, including Mushtaq Vighio, Junaid Ansari, Mansoor Ahmed, Chandar Prakash, Abdul Ghaffar Junejo, Memoona Junejo, and Irfan Junejo, attended the reception ceremony.

Officials said the completion of the program marks an important step forward for technical education in Tharparkar and reflects ongoing efforts to equip local youth with internationally recognized skills and qualifications.
