Kate Middleton had a sweet moment with a young boy during her mountain climbing challenge.
On Sunday, June 28, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales, 44, completed the National Three Peaks Challenge over the weekend to raise awareness about life after cancer and support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. Princess Kate completed the challenge after starting on Saturday evening.
During the climb, video shared on Instagram showed the Princess of Wales speaking with 11-year-old Ted Haslam on Ben Nevis in Scotland.
In a caring moment, Princess Kate, who has three children with Prince William, checked on Ted and asked if he was feeling warm in the cold weather.

She said, “How are you doing, Ted? You’re not too cold? So many people are still in their T-shirts! Why are they doing that?”
She also asked about Ted’s “lucky mascot,” which represented the Molly Ollys charity he was raising money for.
Ted was paralyzed after being diagnosed with a serious spinal tumor at age 3 and completed the climb with family and friends who helped push his wheelchair. They were raising funds for Molly Ollys, which had supported him during hospital stays.
The Princess of Wales praised the effort as “fantastic” and said the cloudy weather was a “shame” because it blocked the view. She told Ted she was “so impressed” and added, “We’ll be cheering you on.”

Kate has previously spoken about how nature helped her during cancer treatment. She said in March 2024 that she was undergoing cancer treatment and later said in January 2025 that she was in remission after treatment at The Royal Marsden Hospital.
The challenge involved 23 miles of hiking and 10,052 feet of climbing. She completed it with support from Mountain Rescue. Her final climb was Mount Snowdon in Wales, where she was greeted by Prince William, their children, her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and her brother, James Middleton.
She also shared a statement and video explaining why she took on the challenge.
She said, “Lots of people have asked me why I’m doing this challenge. It’s partly personal. I’m grateful to be strong enough to walk these hills. But more importantly, it’s to give something back and support the incredible work happening across the country.”

She added that she has met people living with and beyond cancer and understands how difficult the journey is. She said she wanted to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which is very important to her.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity later said it had created a fundraising page so people could donate, and the money will help cancer patients receive better care.
