Royal insiders say Prince Harry is taking another step toward rebuilding his relationship with King Charles after the two reportedly reunited in Britain last month.
According to reports, Harry, Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, recently reunited with King Charles as part of efforts to improve family relations.
Organizers of Prince Harry’s Invictus Games plan to invite King Charles to attend the 2027 event in Birmingham, according to source.
The king is expected to be invited to either the opening or closing ceremony, as well as several sporting events where he could meet competitors.
A source said Harry has two reasons for wanting his father to attend. First, he hopes to have the king’s support for the Invictus Games. Second, having King Charles by his side would strengthen his case for security arrangements for his family during the visit.
Another source said the 2027 Birmingham Games are very important to Harry, who wants them to be the most successful Invictus Games yet. The source added that it would mean a great deal to him if his father attended the event.
Meanwhile, the meeting between Prince Harry and King Charles at the Birmingham Games in 2027 could become an important step toward fully repairing their relationship after years of tension between father and son.
Another source said the 2027 Games are a major priority for Harry and that having his father present would mean everything to him.
