KARACHI: The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has issued a new circular announcing revised timings for government schools across the province, directing all institutions to implement the schedule with immediate effect.
According to the circular, the new timings came into force on August 6, 2026, and will remain applicable until further notice. Education authorities instructed all government schools in Sindh to strictly follow the revised schedule.
The circular introduces separate timings for single-shift and double-shift primary, elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools to streamline academic activities throughout the province.
For single-shift primary schools, from August 6 to Oct. 31, classes will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, while Friday hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. From Nov. 1 to March 31, school hours will change to 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The circular also specifies timings for double-shift schools. For elementary, secondary and higher secondary institutions operating in two shifts, the first shift will run from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. between Aug. 6 and Oct. 31, and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. from Nov. 1 to March 31.
The department has also revised schedules for single-shift elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools, directing education officials and school heads across Sindh to ensure the immediate enforcement of the new timetable.

Earlier, the Sindh government has restored the Saturday holiday for all public and private schools across the province, reversing its earlier decision to keep schools open six days a week.
Under the revised policy, teaching hours from Monday to Friday will be extended by one hour to ensure academic activities continue without disruption despite the two-day weekend.
The provincial government said the decision was made as part of its austerity measures and to ensure the more efficient use of available resources.
