A tragic accident occurred during a local football match in southern Thailand when 24-year-old player Sofwan Awae was killed after being struck by lightning on the field.
The incident was captured on camera and showed players continuing the match despite the rainy weather. A sudden lightning strike hit the pitch, causing Awae to collapse. Emergency medical personnel attempted to save him, but he later died from his injuries.

Twelve other players were also injured during the incident at the Golok FA Cup tournament, which featured amateur teams from Thailand and Malaysia.
The Football Association of Thailand extended its condolences to Awae’s family, teammates, and club following the tragedy. The incident has also raised concerns about safety protocols for sporting events held during severe weather conditions.
