Netflix is considering starting a crackdown on password sharing. The platform is trying to crack down on ineligible users.
A spokesperson told the international news agency, “This test is designed to help ensure that people using Netflix accounts are authorized to do so.”
Some users have revealed that they are seeing a screen, “If you don’t live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching.”
However, Netflix is likely to decide if it will start a crackdown or not.

Online platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, etc allow users to log in to more than one profile within one account. But these platforms offer specific terms and conditions.
Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings has mentioned during a 2016 webcast, “Password sharing is something you have to learn to live with because there’s so much legitimate password sharing, like you sharing with your spouse, with your kids, so there’s no bright line, and we’re doing fine as is.”
On the other hand, Chief product officer Greg Peters had said in 2019 that the OTT platform was looking at the issue of password sharing, but said it had no “big plans to announce at this time in terms of doing something differently there”.
