Those blocking roads could be arrested without warrant in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Balochistan government issued the Criminal Law Ordinance on Saturday.

According to details, carrying out rallies, processions and staging sit-ins on streets, roads and highways have been banned.

The ordinance aims to put a stop to any process which creates hindrance in people’s daily lives, travelling and transportation.

As per the statute, those carrying out rallies and staging sit-ins on the streets could be arrested without a warrant. On establishing the charges, a session court and first-class magistrate would have the authority to impose fine or sentence imprisonment to the culprit.

In case of violation of the ordinance, the culprit could be punished with three to six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

It is pertinent here to mention that the ordinance is applicable now in the province after approval of the Balochistan governor.

On November 6, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif had reached out to the opposition in a bid to develop a mutual ‘joint strategy’ regarding rising inflation in the country and the NAB Ordinance amendment before the joint session of the parliament.
