The Indian Consulate in Dubai has issued an advice to warn travel brokers, touts, and enterprises against keeping their employees’ passports and cautioned them against putting stickers and defacing this crucial document, in accordance with Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) regulations.

“We have frequently seen that companies who prefer to withhold their employees’ passports often indulge in pasting stickers with names and details of their employees on the top of the document, defiling the important Indian emblem embossed on that page,” a spokesperson for the Indian Consulate in Dubai said. They do this so that they can quickly identify the paper and determine which employee it belongs to. However, in accordance with the new MEA standards, we are teaching all travel brokers, touts, and company employees who handle Indian passports to refrain from doing so.”

“We are also recommending that our BLS centers that are involved in processing this document convey a word of warning to these agents and representatives,” the official added. The Indian emblem must be visible at all times, with no name stickers attached.”
