On Friday morning, billionaire Elon Musk attacked far-left progressives, providing another another look into his political views as he moves forward with his $44 billion buyout of Twitter.
“The far left hates everyone, themselves included!” Musk tweeted Friday morning.
Musk, however, followed up 16 minutes later, adding, “But I’m no fan of the far right either. Let’s have less hate and more love.”

Musk chimed in on politics as his buyout plan is met with significant opposition from Twitter employees and left-leaning pundits, with some vowing to abandon the platform entirely, claiming concerns that the billionaire’s leadership will lead to more abusive or bigoted content.
The remarks came only hours after he caused a Twitter storm by tweeting a cartoon portraying the country’s changing political scene over the last decade.
The cartoon, created by Colin Wright of the online magazine Quillette, features a stick figure that was slightly left-of-center on the political spectrum in 2008, but who eventually became a right-leaning conservative in 2021 as a figure labelled “woke progressive” drifted further left.

Musk then clarified his earlier statement, stating that he was a strong fan of former Democratic President Barack Obama.
“I strongly supported Obama for President, but today’s Democratic Party has been hijacked by extremists,” Musk added.
In recent days, Musk has increased his condemnation of far-left politics. He blamed Netflix’s recent subscription losses on a “woke mind virus” that has rendered the platform “unwatchable” earlier this month.
The billionaire has also traded barbs with Democratic moderates like Vice President Joe Biden and far-left candidates like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.)
Progressives slammed Musk’s purchase of Twitter, including MSNBC anchor Joy Reid, who speculated that the South African-born entrepreneur bought the firm because he “misses” apartheid.
Meanwhile, Musk has stated that he will review Twitter’s standards in order to place a greater emphasis on free expression, using existing laws as a guideline for what constitutes acceptable discourse.
“By ‘free speech’, I simply mean that which matches the law. I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law. If people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass laws to that effect. Therefore, going beyond the law is contrary to the will of the people,” Musk said.
