IPL 2022: Andre Russell promises to treat final five games as ‘five finals’

In the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders are up against it.

With five losses in a row, KKR have no room to slip up any further and must win their remaining games to reach the minimum amount of points required to qualify for the playoffs this season.

The Shreyas Iyer-led franchise has struggled to find a winning formula and is currently in a slump.

On Monday, May 2nd, they will face Rajasthan Royals in the hope of causing an upset and keeping their league hopes alive.

KKR’s star all-rounder Andre Russell sent a message to the fans in a video posted prior of the game, vowing to treat their last five matches as five finals.

Russell may also be seen applauding the franchise’s genuine fans, who have decided to stick behind the club even in the face of adversity.

“It’s not the situation we’d prefer to be in at the moment. I believe you have been the kind of devoted supporters that any franchise would cherish. And I believe that in these times, we all know who our supporters are “Russell remarked in the video.

“I appreciate your visit tremendously, and I speak on behalf of everyone. You’ve been incredible, and I’m still seeing purple and gold in your work,” he went on to say.

“Continue to show your support. We’ll fight to the end and take these five finals game by game,” Russell came to a conclusion.

If KKR wants to be in contention for the playoffs, they must win all of their games, and they have a difficult schedule ahead of them.

They will play two matches against the Lucknow Super Giants, who have been one of the tournament’s strongest teams, and one each against SRH, MI, and RR.
