Balochistan in a wildfire, authorities fell short to snuff out fire

Balochistan’s district Sherani has been covered with bushfires for the past many days, and the Federal, the Army, and FC have been engaged in firefighting.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed Pakistan Army, FC and the federal government to the possible measures to control the fire in the Sherani forest in Balochistan.

Prime Minister has instructed the Balochistan government to take immediate actions to snuff out the fire on cedar trees in the Sherani district, which has spread to a radius of seven kilometres.

While expressing sorrow over the loss of three persons, the premier directed the concerned departments to reach the spot immediately.

Shehbaz Sharif has directed to investigate the incident and to present a report.

On the other hand, the federal government is providing all possible assistance to the Balochistan government to put out the fire in two districts of the province.

According to the spokesperson of the National Disaster Management Authority, Pakistan Army and FC are providing assistance to control the fire.
Whereas, Pakistan Rangers are also participating in the rescue operation.

In the statement, the NDMA spokesman said that efforts were being made to control the fire by helicopter and that NDMA had provided necessary firefighting equipment to the Balochistan government.

He added, that due to the difficult mountainous terrain, rescue teams were facing difficulties in controlling the fire.

Previously Deputy Speaker Balochistan Assembly Babar Mosa expressed grave concerns over the tragic incident.

He took notice of the incident and said that the government has been striving hard to control the situation and said that the administration has been busy controlling the fire.

“The government is taking all possible steps to control the fire, Deputy Speaker said.

“Forests are the beauty of the region. Protection of forests is our responsibility”, he added.
