SpaceX flight attendant accused Elon Musk of sexual misconduct

According to Insider, Elon Musk paid $250,000 to settle a sexual misconduct lawsuit after a flight attendant on the company’s corporate aircraft accused him of exposing himself to her mid-flight.

The event occurred in 2016, according to Insider, and the firm compensated with the anonymous flight attendant in 2018, according to a friend of the flight attendant who was notified about the incident at the time but is not bound by any non-disclosure agreements with the company.

Musk is said to have requested a “full body massage” and promised to purchase the flight attendant a horse if she would “do more.” The flight attendant was reportedly urged to pay for professional massage training out of her own cash so that she could better assist Musk during flights, according to Insider.

Musk is said to have exposed himself and “proposed” her during a massage on a flight to London. The buddy described the encounter as “he grabbed her thigh and promised her he would get her a horse.” “And he basically tried to entice her into doing anything sexual.”

The flight attendant allegedly turned down Musk’s overtures and then felt “punished” by SpaceX by having less shifts. According to Insider, she reached an agreement with Musk in 2018 “after a session with a mediator that Musk himself attended.”

According to the report, Musk responded to questions by saying there was “a lot more to this story,” but didn’t elaborate. “If I were inclined to engage in sexual harassment, this is unlikely to be the first time in my entire 30-year career that it comes to light,” he told the publication.

SpaceX has been contacted for comment.

5/20/22 1:06 a.m. ET Update: Musk has subsequently responded to the charges on Twitter, declaring them “utterly incorrect” and labelling the anonymous SpaceX flight attendant’s acquaintance a “liar.” This isn’t the first time Musk has made possibly defamatory remarks on the site about his perceived adversaries.

Notably, Musk’s tweets make no mention of the $250,000 payment made by SpaceX to the former employee to resolve the alleged misbehaviour allegation, or the fact that she is presently under what Insider describes as “restrictive non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses that bar the attendant from ever discussing the severance payment or disclosing any information of any kind about Musk and his businesses.”

And, for the record, those wild accusations are utterly untrue

Musk says in a subsequent tweet that “attacks against me should be viewed through a political lens” – it’s unclear if this refers to Insider, the whistleblower, or both.
