King Felipe, 54, watched Spain’s first World Cup game in Qatar on Wednesday. King saw Spain beat Costa Rica 7-0 at Al-Thumama Stadium in Doha with Luis Rubiales. This was Spain’s biggest World Cup win.
King Felipe may not attend Sunday’s play versus Germany. Gert’s Royals said the Spanish monarch is the first European royal to watch a World Cup game this year.
Even before the event began, there was a lot of talk about the city that would host it. Qatar has been criticized for treating women and LGBTQ+ people unfairly and for the deaths of 37 migrant workers who were helping to build the stadiums where the games are being held.
