A royal analyst claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity in the US has fallen to “second place” as a result of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s recent trip to the US.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ three-day journey to Boston for the Earthshot Prize ceremony at the beginning of December, according to royal authority Jennie Bond, generated more media coverage in the US than the Sussexes’ Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan.
“I don’t believe Harry and Meghan’s documentary shadowed things in the States, as the biggest news over there was William and Catherine’s visit,” Bond remarked in an interview with OK! Magazine.
“They never went into so much detail about Harry and Meghan, so it kind of knocked them into second place,” she continued.
Prince William “soldiered on in a grown-up way,” according to Bond, despite the fact that Prince Harry released a shocking trailer for his Netflix series while he was there.
“They’ve put their heads down, got on with things and rose above all of the hoo-ha. Earthshot is a great success – it’s very laudable and slick and is very successful in shining light on projects all around the world.”
“But they’ve also sort of snubbed Harry and Meghan with how under-played they carried out the tour in terms of extravagance,” according to Bond.
Bond made these remarks as figures from the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board showed that fewer than a million Americans watched Prince Harry and Meghan’s Netflix special.
It is important to note that the Netflix series starring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have its second and last season premiere on December 15, 2022.
