Malala delivered a speech during the online graduation ceremony. She said that her last few months at Oxford had been challenging because of lockdown imposed in wake of coronavirus pandemic.
She said, “When I pictured my last few months at Oxford, I saw myself working in the library, studying day and night, and in the end celebrating our achievements with my friends,”
“but now I’m in my house, stuck in my room while my brothers interrupt and annoy me.”
Malala went on to say that “while this is not the ending we imaged, our education will outlast any part of the ceremony”.
“Don’t be defined by what you lose in this crisis but by how do you respond to it,”
Influential celebrities including Barack & Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, K-pop boy band BTS, Bill Gates joined Dear Class of 2020.
