Nawaz Sharif has instructs party workers to prepare for Punjab elections.
LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has instructed party leaders and workers to prepare for elections in Punjab.
Nawaz Sharif made the announcement in a consultative meeting of the party leadership held in London under his chairmanship, said Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb.
The federal minister said Nawaz Sharif has directed PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to establish a parliamentary board for the upcoming elections.
Nawaz Sharif said they will move forward with full passion, confidence and preparations and emerge victorious in the polls.
PML-N has decided not to obstruct the dissolution of Punjab Assembly and instead contest the next elections.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with party leaders and discussed the political situation emerging after the decision to dissolve the provincial assembly.
Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman and Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique were also present in the consultative meeting.
During the meeting, PML-N senior leaders decided not to obstruct the dissolution of the assembly. It was decided the contest the next elections with full preparation. They said election commission should hold the provincial assembly elections as per the time given in the constitution.
The meeting was told that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz will return to Pakistan after the formation of the caretaker setup in the province. Nawaz Sharif will give the final approval of the names for the caretaker government, sources added.
After returning home, Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shehbaz will lead the election campaign.Maryam will hold rallies in South Punjab while Hamza will hold rallies in Upper Punjab.
