Retailer discloses prices for Galaxy Z Fold4 & Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

Galaxy Z Fold4

In three weeks, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, Z Fold4, new Watch5 series, and new Galaxy Buds will be unveiled at the August 10 Unpacked event. However, businesses are already preparing for the beginning of sales, and one of them publicised pricing information prematurely.

Contrary to widespread reports, there is no 1TB Z Fold4. According to a new pricing leak, the speculations of a 512GB Galaxy Z Flip4 will come true. The following table compares the price of the new Z Fold4 to that of the Z Fold3 at launch.

According to Geekbench, the 4-series will not feature additional RAM than their predecessors, meaning the Fold will have 12GB. Especially for the 512GB Flip, this may not be entirely accurate, but we will have to wait and see. In either case, the prices are marginally more than last year’s comparable models.

Apple diversifies iPhone suppliers to 14 before its release

apple

Apple is anticipated to release the iPhone 14 series in September, and to avoid any delays in its introduction, the firm has diversified its component suppliers. This helps the Cupertino tech giant to not only minimise its reliance on a single supplier, but also to have a negotiating position. In addition, Apple’s list of suppliers has grown in advance of the iPhone 14 release, as China’s SG Micro has received the quality certifications for the high-end iPhone 14 models.

SG Micro will likely ship the PMICs for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, according to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. It will be the first time the Chinese manufacturer has supplied Apple with components, indicating that its technological capabilities have achieved the tier-1 level, which is required for the production of premium, high-end consumer electronics.

Motorola unveils Razr 2022 and Edge X30 Pro on August 2

Motorola Razr 2022

Motorola’s upcoming Razr foldable smartphone was rumoured to be delayed just yesterday, but the company has now confirmed its August 2 release date. It will be accompanied by the Edge X30 Pro at the same event.

The debut is occurring in China, however the X30 Pro has long been expected to be rebranded as the Edge 30 Ultra for international release. However, it remains to be seen whether the Razr 2022 (formerly known as Razr 3) will ever leave China. Given the history of the foldable Razr line, though, the likelihood is strong. However, the initial unveiling will take place at the headquarters of Motorola’s owner, Lenovo, which suggests that these two models will likely be offered in China first.

Russia drops interest rate by 1.5% as inflation falls

Russia inflation

Friday, Russia central bank slashed its interest rate to 8%, a significant decrease from the previous month’s setting of 9.5%, citing a decline in inflation.

Earlier this year, in an effort to stabilise the rouble following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in February, the bank increased the rate to 20%. Since then, it has been progressively reversing the increase, and rates are currently lower than they were just before the invasion.

“Current consumer price growth rates remain low, contributing to a further slowdown in annual inflation,” the bank said in a statement. “Inflation expectations of households and businesses have significantly decreased, reaching the levels of spring 2021.”

Schlumberger improves outlook on global oil and gas scramble

Schlumberger

Schlumberger, a provider of oilfield services, raised its projection for the full year on Friday as it posted record-breaking earnings thanks to a global rush for oil and gas.

The largest provider of oilfield services in the world recorded a net income of $959 million for the second quarter, which was more than double the previous year’s level. Increased by one-fifth, revenues of $6.7 billion increased by one-fifth.

According to projections made by S&P Capital IQ, Wall Street was expecting $570 million and $6.2 billion, respectively. However, both sums considerably above these forecasts.

The company’s CEO, Olivier Le Peuch, stated that the quarter “marked a critical inflection point” amidst a strong surge in exploration activity worldwide.

The business raised its full-year sales growth forecast from “mid teens” to “high teens” and stated that it intends to report “at least” $27bn in 2022, compared to $23bn in 2021. New York pre-market trading saw an increase of 2.5% for the stock market.

American Express raises revenue outlook on customer spending

American Express

American Express increased its revenue forecast for 2022, dispelling fears of a recession, as robust client spending helped the company surpass Wall Street’s projections in the most recent quarter.

The credit card business now anticipates a revenue gain of between 23% and 25% this year, up from its previous forecast of 18% to 20%.

Comparing the second quarter of this year to the same period last year, the company’s total networked expenditures increased by 25%, or by 30% on a constant currency basis. This was due to the ongoing expansion of travel expenditures, which surpassed pre-pandemic levels early this year.

Twitter says Musk’s ‘uncertainty’ hurt second-quarter sales

Twitter

Twitter attributed a decline in second-quarter revenues to “uncertainty” surrounding Elon Musk’s on-and-off pursuit of the firm, as well as a decline in digital advertising spending.

The San Francisco-based business is seeking to enforce a $44bn sale to Musk in a Delaware court, following Musk’s effort to withdraw from the agreement earlier this month.

On Friday, when announcing statistics for the three months ending at the end of June, the social networking platform attributed a 1% decline in revenues to the uncertainty around the impending purchase.

Twitter attributed the lacklustre results to “advertising sector challenges associated with the macroenvironment” and “uncertainty due to the impending acquisition of Twitter by an Elon Musk affiliate.”
