OnePlus 10T camera details revealed before Aug 3 launch

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus just announced that the OnePlus 10T will be released globally on August 3.

Ahead of its release, OnePlus has verified some crucial camera system specifications. So, let’s have a look.

The rear of the OnePlus 10T 5G will have three cameras. It will include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 camera. The 1/1.56-inch-diameter sensor offers both optical and electrical image stabilisation. In addition to its primary camera, the 10T 5G will feature an ultra-wide camera with a field of view of 119.9 degrees. In addition, there will be a macro camera sensor. T-Mobile settles class-action lawsuit over 2021 data breach for $500 million

According to the court complaint on Friday, the customer information of “roughly 76.6 million U.S. persons identified by T-Mobile” was compromised. A report published by Motherboard in August of 2021 indicated that the compromised consumer data includes Social Security numbers, names, residences, and driver licence information.

$350 million of the settlement sum will be shared between customers and attorneys (to pay fees and legal costs). The amount paid to individual customers will depend on the amount paid to attorneys and the number of customers who opt into the class action settlement. T-Mobile will soon notify affected consumers about the settlement.

Shanghai outlaws Covid discrimination

The city government of Shanghai issued an order prohibiting companies from discriminating against people who had been previously infected with Covid-19, following reports that some groups had refused to hire some of the tens of thousands of workers who contracted the virus during the city’s two-month lockdown.

In a resolution adopted by the city council, officials prohibited employers from firing employees due to a history of infection with a contagious disease or refusing to hire someone for the same reason.

Russia drops interest rate by 1.5% as inflation falls

Friday, Russia central bank slashed its interest rate to 8%, a significant decrease from the previous month’s setting of 9.5%, citing a decline in inflation.

Earlier this year, in an effort to stabilise the rouble following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in February, the bank increased the rate to 20%. Since then, it has been progressively reversing the increase, and rates are currently lower than they were just before the invasion.

“Current consumer price growth rates remain low, contributing to a further slowdown in annual inflation,” the bank said in a statement. “Inflation expectations of households and businesses have significantly decreased, reaching the levels of spring 2021.”

Schlumberger improves outlook on global oil and gas scramble

Schlumberger, a provider of oilfield services, raised its projection for the full year on Friday as it posted record-breaking earnings thanks to a global rush for oil and gas.

The largest provider of oilfield services in the world recorded a net income of $959 million for the second quarter, which was more than double the previous year’s level. Increased by one-fifth, revenues of $6.7 billion increased by one-fifth.

According to projections made by S&P Capital IQ, Wall Street was expecting $570 million and $6.2 billion, respectively. However, both sums considerably above these forecasts.

The company’s CEO, Olivier Le Peuch, stated that the quarter “marked a critical inflection point” amidst a strong surge in exploration activity worldwide.

The business raised its full-year sales growth forecast from “mid teens” to “high teens” and stated that it intends to report “at least” $27bn in 2022, compared to $23bn in 2021. New York pre-market trading saw an increase of 2.5% for the stock market.
