Here’s how to get mobile phone with easy installment from govt

The federal government has unveiled a new initiative, the “GSMA Smart Phone for All Scheme,” enabling citizens to acquire smartphones valued between Rs 10,000 and Rs 1 lakh through installment plans lasting 3 to 12 months.

This inclusive program requires only a valid ID card, making all Pakistanis, including students, entrepreneurs, and jobholders, eligible participants. A nominal 20% down payment is mandatory, but no interest will be levied.

In addition to this, the caretaker federal government has introduced a policy for offering mobile phones in installments, aiming to safeguard investors from defaults.

Defaulters may face consequences such as the blocking of mobile phones and the potential suspension of national identity cards. Dr. Umar Saif, the caretaker federal minister, emphasized the need for a robust mechanism to protect investors and ensure policy success.

This groundbreaking policy marks a significant shift in the telecom landscape, allowing companies to directly offer smartphones to consumers through flexible installment plans.

Particularly advantageous for economically disadvantaged segments of society, this initiative is expected to boost mobile broadband usage, fostering increased accessibility and connectivity for all.
