The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced banks holiday on 1st January 2026, Thursday.
All public and private banks, development financial institutions, and microfinance banks across the country will remain closed for all types of public dealings on the first day of the new year, 2026, according to statement issued by State Bank of Pakistan.
Earlier, reports revealed a tentative 2026 holiday calendar, starting with Kashmir Day on February 5. Eid-ul-Fitr holidays are expected from March 21 to 23, followed by Labour Day on May 1.
Eid-ul-Azha holidays may fall from May 27 to 29. Independence Day will be observed on August 14, while August 26 is expected to be a holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). Iqbal Day will be marked on November 9.
December 25 will be a public holiday for Quaid-e-Azam’s birth anniversary and Christmas, while December 26 will be reserved as a holiday for the Christian community only.
