ISLAMABAD: Pakistan recorded a further increase in mobile phone imports during the current fiscal year, with total imports surpassing Rs455 billion in the first 10 months, according to official documents.
The data showed that Pakistan imported mobile phones worth Rs455.73 billion from July 2025 to April 2026, marking a 30.29% increase compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.
During the corresponding period last year, mobile phone imports stood at Rs349.77 billion.
The report stated that mobile phone imports rose 40.71% on a year-on-year basis in April 2026.
On a month-on-month basis, imports increased by 18.70% in April compared to March 2026.
According to the figures, Pakistan imported mobile phones worth Rs49.415 billion in April 2026, up from Rs41.63 billion recorded in March 2026. In April 2025, the country imported mobile phones valued at Rs35.12 billion.
The continued rise in imports reflects growing domestic demand for smartphones and other mobile devices despite economic challenges and pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

Earlier, As per the latest data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), local mobile phone companies manufactured and assembled 1.81 million units during April 2026, marking a sharp decline of 35% month-on-month compared to 2.79 million units in March 2026.
On a cumulative basis, total local mobile manufacturing and assembly reached 9.17 million units during the first four months of 2026, indicating sustained overall output despite monthly volatility in production levels.
The year-on-year comparison for April 2026 and 4M2026 could not be carried out, as PTA had previously issued April and May 2025 data in a combined format, limiting direct period-to-period evaluation.
