Remembering Qazi Wajid on his second death anniversary

The nation observes the second death anniversary of legendary artist Qazi Wajid today.

Qazi Wajid was born on 26 May in 1930. He gave exceptional performances in several drama serials, including Tanhayan, Dhoop Kinare, Khuda ki Basti, Ankahi and Mehndi.

He started his career as a child artist in 1956 with Radio Pakistan. His program ‘Qazi Ji ka Qaida’ was highly admired.

He started working in the television industry in 1966. His first drama was ‘Khuda ki Basti’ in which he played the character named Raja.

He got immense fame and he worked in over 500 hit drama serials

Due to his inspirational skills and realistic works, Qazi Wajid was awarded the Pride of Performance in 1988. He was also granted with the Best Actor award.

However, Qazi Wajid left everyone on 11th February 2018.

His medical conditions did not remain stable after he was admitted to a medical institute in Lahore.

TV artist Nighat Butt passed away

Renowned TV, film and stage artist Nighat Butt died in Lahore yesterday.

The stage actor suffered a stroke. She was 72 years old.

Nighat Butt has worked in Showbiz for around three decades.

The actor was facing financial crisis and medical complexities. She died at a local hospital.

She was mentally and physically ill, and was having diabetes as well as blood pressure. Several showbiz figures had requested Punjab government to help her financially.

Nighat’s husband Abid Butt was also an actor. He passed away four years ago.

She had given exceptional performances in various TV plays including Pyaas, Landa Bazaar, Khwahish and Waris.
