Maira Omair Rana Makes Her First Statement After The LGS Scandal

Maira Rana has spoken out about the accusations by the students of LGS against her. The teacher at the institute whose case of harassment erupted had plenty to say in her defense.

Students of LGS 1A1 have previously reported concerns from staff members over sexual harassment. Maira Omair was accused of wrongdoing and silencing students from speaking about her husband Omair Rana’s misconduct with female students.

Maira took to her social media account and wrote,

“Recently, a number of students raised their voices against sexual harassment in education institutions. I admire their courage to help bring a truly heinous issue to the forefront and pray that every single victim of sexual harassment, anywhere, finds closure, peace, and justice.”
“The perpetrators and enablers of sexual harassment must be brought to justice. This requires due process, diligent investigation, and fair review, in order to make sure that the rights of the accused, the accusers, and everyone else involved is protected and justice is served.”

She went on to say,

“I am absolutely clear on the fact that I made sure my students feel safe, protected, and heard. It has deeply upset and disappointed me that some of my students feel and believe otherwise. I hope that one day they will see that I did all that I was able and required to do, and, at times, even more.”

She concluded by saying,

“The law is there to protect. Trying cases on social media is irresponsible, reckless, and ineffective. I look forward to justice being served after the cases have been tried in courts of law. May justice, truth and humanity prevail.”

Earlier this month, actor Omair Rana had also responded to the sexual harassment allegations made against him last month by students of the Lahore Grammar School.
