Pakistani Short Film Home1947 won the Best Documentary Award at the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal 2020.
The SOC film series is based on the lives and personal stories of millions of people who were displaced in 1947 during the formation of two new states, Pakistan and India.
According to the press release, the stories of millions of people are retold in this short documentary and this world is not told through the words of historians and politicians but through the eyes of those who lived at that time.
To keep these stories alive for generations to come, many different perspectives were highlighted through documentary footage, voiceovers, historical archives and reminiscences.
The episodes of Film Home 1947, which won the Best [Short Documentary] Film Award at SAFM 2020, include Ghosts of the Past, Midnight Free, Silent Water, Weaving Memories, Earth and Dark Secrets.
The first premiere of the series was held at the Manchester International Festival in the United Kingdom, which was screened in Mumbai, Lahore and Karachi, India.
