'I’m not apologising for a joke I made 3 years back' Ali Gul Pir responds to arrest warrant

Famous rapper and comedian Ali Gul Pir responded to the arrest warrant that was issued for his non-appearance before the court in the Ali Zafar defamation case.

Ali Gul Pir said on Twitter, “No matter how many warrants I get, I’m not apologising for a joke I made 3 years back. I’m gonna fight it. Any wannabe k-pop singing midlife crisis cockstar can try his best, you will only get what you deserve. End of your already dying career by the truth.”

Within the defamation suit claims that Meesha Shafi and her buddies ran a smear marketing campaign towards Ali Zafar on social media following Shafi’s unique submit which alleged the singer sexually harassed her.

Not that, the Lahore Judicial Magistrate summoned singer Meesha Shafi in a case registered against her under the Cyber Crimes Act on the complaint of actor and singer Ali Zafar while issuing arrest warrants for Iffat Omar and Ali Gul Pir.

According to the report, all the accused named in the case did not appear before the magistrate on Tuesday (September 7).

Actresses Iffat Omar, Faizan Raza, Haseem Uz Zaman, Fariha Ayub, and Leena Ghani had filed petitions seeking exemption from appearing in person.

Almost all of them had applied to live and work in Karachi due to their permanent residence and said it was difficult for them to appear in court at every hearing.

Actress Iffat Omar had once applied for exemption in Karachi due to some personal compulsion.

However, in a written order issued yesterday, Magistrate Yousuf Abdul Rehman rejected the reasons given by the accused and dismissed the petitions filed for permanent immunity.

The magistrate also issued a bailable arrest warrant for Iffat Omar and Ali Gul Pir on October 6 for their non-appearance before the court.

Meesha Shafi had received immense support over the accusations against Ali Zafar by TV host Iffat Omar.

Iffat Omar had said that she would not back out from testifying against Ali Zafar at all in Meesha Shafi case.

“I’ll not back out from testifying against Ali Zafar at all,” said the actress.

At the same time, the magistrate summoned singer Meesha Shafi and Mahim Javed to appear in the next hearing through summons.

It may be recalled that the FIA had registered against nine persons, including Meesha Shafi, under Section 109 of the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act and Pakistan Penal Code for allegedly running a vicious campaign against Ali Zafar on social media.

Meesha Shafi had accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in April 2018 and claimed that the singer had harassed her and later launched a campaign against Ali Zafar on social media.

However, Ali Zafar immediately denied the allegations.

After the allegations,  Ali Zafar filed a defamation suit against the singer in the Lahore Sessions Court.

The contempt case filed by Ali Zafar is still pending in the Sessions Court.
