Joe Jonas remembers losing ‘Spider-Man’ to Andrew Garfield

Jonas Brothers singer, 33, starring in the upcoming war picture Devotion and claimed he auditioned for The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb.

Andrew Garfield played the role in the 2014 sequel alongside Emma Stone. Garfield, 39, also appeared in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home opposite Tobey Maguire.

“Momentarily, you’re defeated. This guy was amazing, “Jonas auditioned but wasn’t cast. “I was nominated for Spider-Man years ago and was really pleased, but Andrew Garfield won. He was right.”

“Callbacks were big back then. The director has previously directed music videos, so I thought, “I’m in.” “Adding, “However, I adore auditioning and proving yourself.”

Jonas replied, “No, but I’m sure I had one back in the day.”

The Camp Rock veteran told Variety that his wife, X-Men and Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner, directed his Devotion audition.

Adding, “When your phenomenal actress wife Sophie Turner is filming and directing you, you have to bring your A-game. My harshest critic. Yes, I’ll be nervous, but she’s very helpful and will be a great acting coach. I owe her.”
