‘Wednesday’, a Netflix series creator, Miles Millar has provided an explanation as to why Jenna Ortega was let to shoot the popular dance scene while carrying Covid-19.
After admitting that she recorded the dance scene for the fourth episode of the popular series while testing positive for Covid, Jenna, 20, drew criticism.
In an interview with NME, Jenna—who plays Wednesday Addams in the show—made the admission.
She admitted during the open conversation that the notorious dance scene was shot on her “first day with COVID so it was difficult to film,” according to aceshowbiz.com.
Jenna was removed from the scene as soon as she tested positive, according to the production firm MGM, which also claimed that “tight” processes were followed at the time.
Al Gough and Millar, the writers of Wednesday, were questioned about their choice to have Jenna record the scene in a recent interview.
According to Millar, “extremely stringent Covid protocols that were enforced all the way through the dance”.
“Jenna tested negative the day before, and only when a positive test came back, and as soon as it did, she was escorted off the set and went into quarantine for I think 10 days,” he told the reporter.
“It’s one of those Chinese whispers elements. Every test, every protocol was explicitly followed, and there was no compromising of that in any decision to keep filming and film Jenna ill or sick, it was never a discussion,” he continued.
“If she had been, we would’ve closed and let her rest, the health and well-being of the cast and crew was and always is paramount to us and everybody at MGM and Netflix.”
Netflix has a copy of Wednesday.
