Former Indian actress Sana Khan has candidly discussed her feelings and experiences during her career in the entertainment industry and her decision to embrace a religious life after quitting acting.
In a recent podcast appearance, Sana, who left showbiz in 2020, reflected on her journey of self-discovery, her internal struggles, and the transformation that prompted her to step away from the limelight.
She first gained fame on Bigg Boss 6, hosted by Salman Khan, and enjoyed a successful acting career. However, in October 2020, she shocked her fans by announcing her departure from the industry to follow her spiritual calling.
Sana married Muslim cleric Mufti Anas Sayed in November 2020, and the couple welcomed their first child in July 2023. Since leaving the public eye, Sana has focused on living a religious life while managing her business ventures.
Sana expressed the emotional turmoil she faced while navigating the entertainment world. She remarked on the stark contrast between her upbringing and the glamorous image she portrayed on screen, admitting, “Every Muslim knows what is Halaal and Haraam. I knew that what I was doing was not correct as per my religion”.
Sana said, “I couldn’t understand when I, a simple girl wearing salwar kameez and oiling my hair to go to college, reached a stage where I was wearing backless outfits in front of the camera.”
Talking about a pivotal moment in her journey Sana said, “After Bigg Boss, out of nowhere, I felt the need to get a Quran with translation.” She added, “This was a major turning point in my life,”
Sana has distanced herself from the glamour of showbiz, dedicating her life to family and faith, while also running two successful businesses along with her husband.
