- A Twitter user claimed an explicit film featuring the two was being circulated.
- Williams responded to the rumor, stating he had come across a blogger spreading the false story.
- Matt Wallace later clarified the rumor and thanked Williams for addressing the situation.
Montel Williams and former Vice President Kamala Harris once shared a close bond, but recently, they became the subjects of a salacious rumor. The beloved TV personality took to social media to address the situation directly, aiming to put an end to the rapidly spreading, obscene claim.
According to Vibe, an X (formerly Twitter) user spread an ugly tweet claiming that an explicit film featuring Montel Williams and Kamala Harris existed and was being circulated. Shocked by the claim, Williams took to social media on October 31 to express his disbelief. He revealed that he had come across a blogger, whom he had never heard of, spreading the rumor that a “sex tape of me” was being shopped around. Williams added that the blogger had gained millions of views by circulating the false story.
He further exclaimed, “Let’s ‘break the internet’ w/ truth – there is no tape. @KamalaHQ ’s surge clearly has some people worried.”
An account named @MattWallace888 shared the rumor on the social media platform on October 28.
“Wow, I was just informed by my friend, who is the CEO of a large tech company, that there is allegedly a sex tape being shopped around involving Kamala Harris and Montel Williams,” the rumor from @MattWallace888 read.
At the time, he claimed that if the speculation proved true, it would “break the internet” and damage Harris’s image and campaign, especially with the elections just eight days away.
After Williams responded, Matt Wallace updated his followers on X, sharing a tweet with clarification and thanking Williams for addressing the situation.
In 2019, Montel Williams tweeted asking why it was a big deal that he and Kamala Harris had dated “20 years ago when we were both single.” He further expressed his respect for Harris, then a Senator, and wondered if politicians would focus on the dating history of a male candidate in the same way.
During the 2020 election, when Harris was running for vice president, Montel Williams attracted attention as fellow Americans and political opponents discussed the then-senator’s dating history.
According to The Wrap, in July 2024, Williams endorsed Kamala Harris by retweeting Maryland Governor Wes Moore’s support for her.
