Singer and actress Ashley Tisdale has spoken out about being “brought to tears” by being a member of a “toxic mom group”, which she ultimately decided to leave.
Ashley, who became famous as a Disney Channel child star and later played Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical films, is now a mother of two. In the past, she has spoken positively about the importance of having support from other mothers after welcoming her first daughter in 2021. However, she explained that the atmosphere within this particular group later changed in a negative way.
According to Tisdale, the group’s behavior began to feel like high school cliques, which made her feel excluded during a time when she was already emotionally vulnerable. She said she noticed that some members, including other well-known figures, were spending time together without her and that there was a clear sense of distance when they did meet at shared events.
She explained that she slowly began to feel pushed out, becoming very aware of the ways she was being left out. This situation reminded her of earlier moments in the group when she had noticed another mother being excluded, which made her realize that this was a repeated pattern. Eventually, she felt that she had become the one being left behind.
The experience, she said, brought back old and painful feelings she thought she had outgrown, including doubts about whether she was “cool enough.” These emotions led her to decide that staying in the group was no longer healthy for her.
Tisdale shared that she sent a message to the group explaining her decision to step away, saying that the situation felt too immature and similar to high school behavior. While her message was not received positively by everyone, she noted that some members later tried to fix things.
She made it clear that she does not believe the mothers in the group are bad people, though she hinted there may have been one exception. Overall, she felt the group dynamic had stopped being supportive and positive, at least for her. She also asked readers not to speculate about who the group members were, saying that any guesses would likely be incorrect.
Tisdale said the response to her writing on the topic was overwhelming, with many women reaching out to share similar experiences. She added that the feedback showed she is not alone, and that many mothers have been deeply hurt by groups that are meant to offer encouragement and support.
Alongside her acting career, Ashley Tisdale has released three studio albums and has appeared in films such as Scary Movie and Bring It On.
